In traditional Chinese custom people tend to abase themselves. Abase oneself between peer, abase oneself before superior, abase oneself towards elder people.

An abasing between peer will abate the feeling of superior you may give to others and make your relationship with the peer become more closed. What's more if you are a leader in the class it can help to avoid being threatened to abdicate from the position you are holding, cause people who elect you as the leader because of your affable or amiable quality will have a feeling of  being abducted if you behave a little aberrant. However, no one wants to abide by so many rules, being abased may make people feel uneasy. Besides  it may set a ablaze to uprising where people live in abject condition abasing means more pressure. 

 An abasing before superior show you can handle the relationship between you and your superior ably thus leave a good expression to tne superior. And when you stay abreast of your workmates, it can consider as the most abominable condition if you don't show the abasing towards the superior. However, if everyone in a company being too abased will make the ambience in the company become more tense. And a self-abased behavior in the interview is not always a good thing sometimes it may apart you from the interviewer because it show that you are unwanted to lower yourself from your inner mind.

An abasing towards elder people always show that you are a polite person, and gain a good public praise for yourself. Thus it show that a person who learn to abase before elder people will have more chance in winning the heart of a girl.

Admittedly, there are advantages and disadvantages in the point of self-abased, but whether it's good or bad to join the advocacy of self-abased still need to be studied.
