Civil engineers which possess an academic degree with a major in civil engineering is one of most important job in the world ,civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deal with the design ,construction and maintenance of physical and naturally built environment that include work such as bridges , roads ,canal ,dams and building. university offer the course usually three to five years and designate the degree as bachelor of engineering.

As a civil engineer should be completely open-minded about the direction of career and realize the short and long term goal to think ahead and look ahead ,prepare much more knowledge to adapt the changing world .This job need the good team working spirit ,we try to work in a lot of group and working with people in different discipline together ,the manufacture or industry need the student have more experience of job as a practicing engineers.

In 21st century the current four-year bachelor’s degree is no longer adequate formal academic preparation for the practice of civil engineering at the professional level, focusing on this fundamental issue was critical to the profession and CE profession face significant and revolutionary changes ,we need to practice more to get to professional level ,facing the globalization ,information technology ,societal diversification ,new engineering and construction technologies, enhanced public awareness and need to maintain the infrastructure.

As the inadequate education issue draw the society members to concerns the major effect ,fist is the narrow formal education of civil engineers, ,most CE education programs is to train student to work as doers and practitioners perform well as producers while failing to see and participate in leadership and management even opportunities ,it just meet the short term needs of employer and doest not serve the long-term interest of public .In the meantime the principal of engineering firm still complain about the inadequacies of level and experienced engineers ,sometime they are poor communication skill and inability to mange project profitably ,lack of marketing interest or skill and getting bogged down in technical matters , failure to meet client expectations or lack of visibility in the community ,inability to understand global context even having little business sense, so it need to imply a strengthening of general education experience for all future engineer and do more broadly educated civil engineers rather than on civil engineers with greater technical knowledge.

But optimism for future that civil engineering prevails in the scientific and technological culture and communicated with other non-technical aspect of society cause civil engineer are knowledge workers and have ability to deal with the problems to increase their ability to master the non-technical and technical skill and knowledge .There is no doubt that technology cause the main effect and contribution to quality of our life from last century until now ,but the technology became less important as a cause to many environmental problems. With the knowledge explosion society ,it is more broadly trained the engineer to communicate among liberal art or professions of law , medicine ,policy marker ,public ,technical community ,etc . which lead to civil engineers being better prepared to contribute to society . On the other hand ,few civil engineer realize the evolving environment and their potential in an increasingly complex society ,unfortunately ,most of them don’t think about train themselves to ensure future marketability in the area of choice ,so it need to enhanced education to enable engineer to support their future career goal and achievement of planned career.

I think it is very important that learn more experience from workplace and looking for more employment opportunities ,we need to plan and design construct ,operate ,improve and renovate the project to suit the modern growth society .the key to make a success of assignment is being prepared and considering all the issues and having a clear picture of the benefits .and civil engineering at these time should be more people-oriented engineering discipline not just business –oriented ,I think this really a challenging course and job but I really enjoy what I do !
