A few days ago, I re-watched the movie "cast away", a 2000 drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks as a FedEx employee stranded on an uninhabited island after his plane crashed in the South Pacific. Before the crash, Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) was a time-obsessed systems analyst, who traveled worldwide resolving productivity problems at FedEx depots. Time means everything to him.
But when he was trapped in this island, totally alone, time was just waiting for someone to rescue him. He made friend with a volleyball, giving him a name, Wilson. I think the friendship between Chuck and Wilson is so touching. Wilson seemed encourage Chunk to hold on, to survive from desperation and loneliness. So when Chuck lost Wilson in the ocean, he was so sad and powerless. Wilson is like a symbol of hope inside Chuck's heart. He gave up. And then a ship appeared. Miracle happened.
There are so many details making me moved. Tom Hanks is a brilliant actor. Even though there are not so many lines in the movie, the director told a great story, smile and tears in it. And I really get something profound in this movie, and the movie some kind of gave me some answers to deal with my present life.
