THE DETOURS OF OUR LIFE

634 views. 2010-7-7 16:06 |

When we talk about our future with our parents, they will always tell us:” Follow my advice and avoid detours.” Therefore, some of us are afraid of the detours so much that they never try something new, however, in my opinion, all the detours can be precious and necessary.

The detours are so precious that they color our life and give us the brilliant memories. When we get older, it is possible that all we can remember is the ridiculous and pitiful things. As we know, Goethe drew the materials of the Sorrows of Young Werther from his own sufferings. If he hadn’t gone through those hardships in his youth, then he wouldn’t have created the outstanding work.

There are also necessaries detours on which the victory is based. A persuasive example is the famous scientist Thomas Alva Edison who invented the incandescent lamp. Before finding the tungsten filament, he had made hundreds of experiments with other filaments. Countless failures didn’t stop him.  In contrast, he learned from the failures and improved the filament. Finally, he found the best filament for the lamp.

The detours of life are not only the barriers in our way, but also can be treasures or opportunities. We should make some detours, admiring the beautiful scenery on the way, enjoying the surprises and experiencing the sorrows. We can not know the essence of life without detours.

When we get older and also want our children to follow our advices, perhaps the best advice we can give for them is to make those detours bravely.

Everyone is unique, and other person's experience may not be suitable for another one totally. We take the advice but still have to go our own way!
