Even if he si not the most liked comedian in China today,his popularity certainly rose the fastest within the last two months.

Hundreds of video clips of his shows have been posted on Youtube and other online video sites ,and his performance fees reportedly grew 50-fold in just a few weeks.He has ,at the same time ,become one of the most controversial of entertainers.

Many have doubted his artistic potential,pointing out that his show were repetitive and lacked creativity,a key to continued comedic success.Others belittle the style of humor, saying it's too crude and appeals only to less -educated people.His defenders werejust as up in arms .Many media commentators and bloggers said that his quick rise to stardom proved the broad appeal of his artform.He become a national champion not becauseof his crude,even racy"northeast-ern hick"humor,they argued,but because he represented something new on TV,something with a grassroots feel that appealed to millions of ordinary people.

YES:                               Little shenyan is a real artist and this didnt happen overnight.

First:   He has actually acted for many years in the northeast and has been an apprentice to the comedian zhaobenshan for a few years.he earned his popularity by years of hard work (and failure),not,as many believe,overnight.

Second:     The audience are the ultimate judges of what is art and talent.They rate him highly because they find him wildly funny.Even CCTV had to acknowledge that fact and invited him to the annual show,based on his success in the northeast.

NO:                                     Audiences are fickle.He lacks artistic innovation and cant keep them entertained.

Fisrt: A quick review of his recent performances on various TV stations shows that he uses the same materials over and over.That means either he's running out of funny stuff or that he doesnt have time to work on new material.Either way,it's bad.

Second: His charm is limited to his northeastern background and he hasnt shown any potential for broadening the scope of his material to qppeal to audiences nationwide .A real artist would broaden his horizons and come up wiht new material.
