The birthday of my friend

Today it is my friend's birthday,but I don't konw anything before her calling.I decided to go there with her as soon as possible and bought a cake for her.I wanted to give her a surprise.As I have thought,she was very happy when seeing the cake.I'm very glad to see her smile.
Besides,this is my first blog,there must be some mistakes,so I need your help.

- Your English is quite good. You can improve it by working on "the little things" (See my little things blog).
Specifically, use good spacing and punctuation. Use a space after a period or comma.
The following has several suggested changes. The dots (. . .) indicate I have omitted something. If a word is omitted without dots, it is not needed!
"Today is my friend's birthday, but I don't know about it before her calling her. I . . . her. I wanted to give her a surprise. As I thought she might be, she was very happy when she saw the cake. I was delighted to see her smile."
(Note: I use "saw" and "was" because it is past tense."
"Also, this is my first blog, and I know there must be some mistakes; so I need your help."
