The ‘Happy Farm’ Explosion

623 views. 2010-8-5 15:56 |

Recently, a new online game call Happy Farm has embraced around the Internet. Rapidly, this game arrests many people’s eyes, including white-collar persons, college students, children and the old men. If you are not a “farmer”, you are behind the times. So the first thing Chinese netizens do upon turning on their computers each day is “grow crops” and “steal crops”. Even though “stealing crops” online cannot bring any real benefits to the players, more and more people are joining the game and getting addicted.

While the "happy farm" brings people happiness, it also causes many problems and confusions.

In private companies, managers have issued statements to make clear that “harvesting in an air-conditioned room is immoral”. In the working time, if a worker is occupied with his farm instead of working normally, the efficiency of the company will be reduced and the speed of the company’s development will be impacted. Eventually it will damage the society and the whole country’s economy.

In this explosion, students can’t narrowly escape. Students also prefer to play in the farm. And most parents won’t prevent them from playing this online game. Because they don’t treat Happy Farm as an extremely bad online game likes WOW or CS. However, students also can’t concentrate on their studied while worrying about their farms. What’s worse, in order to get the fee of surfing the Internet, students have to save money by not eating meals. Consequently, it not only harms their study but their health. Even students are complaining that too much work has made them unable to wake up in the middle of night to guard their crops. Obviously, their biological clocks have been thrown into confusion. Once students are addicted to Happy Farm, they will abandon their study regardless of their responsibility—study.

As for me, it’s true that taking care of our own farm brings contentment, getting a taste of humanity by stealing crops somehow eases the feeling of isolation, and working on the farm can make us enjoy the fragrance of nature. But our satisfactory can’t relay on this visional honor, wealth, and happiness from the Internet.
