It has been a long time since I thought so much after seeing a film.Seeing a film is like going through somebody’s whole life.I imagine to put myself into the life and tears come out.

<Paris,Taxes>is a road movie.It tells a story of a man named Travis who is brought back by his brother Walt after four years’ walking.He keeps silent until the first word “Paris” comes out and he is quite away from normal life.Then Travis comes to Walt’s home.There he meets his own son Hunter who has lived in Walt’s family for four years and is already like part of their family.Initially, Hunter doesn’t think Travis as his father,but Travis tries again and again.Finally,they get on well with each other and decide to find Hunter’s mother Jane in Houston and they get it.In the end,Travis sends Hunter to his mother and he himself leaves again.Once,Travis loves Jane so much that he even doesn't want to go to work.. Jane is beautiful and much younger than Travis,so Travis keeps suspecting that she has another lover.He drinks a lot and abuses her everyday until she is pregnant.Then they have their baby and Travis does everything Jane wants to do.But more and more,Jane feels tired and wants freedom.She hates Travis and the baby,always trying to run away.Travis is disappointed and he drinks a lot again.One night,he catches Jane back from a highway and chains her to a chair,hopeless.When he wakes up at midnight,he is surrounded by fire and Jane has gone with their baby.Travis rushes out of the fire and keeps running for five days.That is the beginning of the four years’ walking.

This is a dolorous story about love and communication.

From the beginning to the end,it is love that makes the whole story.Love between Travis and Jane makes Travis do the wrong things and walking for four years.Brother’s love makes Walt bring Travis home and let Hunter admit his real father.Father’s love makes Travis back to normal life when he is almost a lunatic after four years’ walking.And love makes the end,a good but not happy end.

Love between Travis and Jane impresses me most.They love each other deeply all the time.This film tells us that love is not only about romance and happiness,but also about hurts and sadness.Somehow love is beautiful,but the most awful thing is the loving nazi.Desire of occupation is the devil in everybody’s heart.Loving nazi is the desire of one to occupy the other one.Travis has the loving nazi.He abuses Jane because he loves her too much and wants her to show him more love.He chains her because he doesn’t want to lose her.He is confused and take the wrong way to love her.He is forced insane by his clammy love.Finally,she is hurt,deeply,actually,so is Travis.Love also needs freedom and space.When the weakness of humanity defeats reason in one’s mind,love becomes ugly and awful.That is a tragedy.So love is not just easy thing coming from heart easily.It needs our control,cultivation and reason in mind.

Then I want to talk about communication.Why does Travis keeps walking for four years?When I feel down,I also like walking on a long road and thinking a lot.But for Travis,not only walking,but everything he does is to escape.There is a lack of communication between Travis and Jane.Both Jane and Travis are escaping,avoiding facing the problems.They just run away.Jane is like another Travis and she tortures Travis in a different way.In the film,we can see that they miss each other everyday but they still cannot face the other one bravely.Love without good communication is doomed to fail.Is communication really so hard?Everyone is expecting understanding meanwhile holding his private space tightly,which is such a contradiction.Sometims words cannot express a person’s initial thought.Maybe this is why people feel it harder to tell something to the ones who are very important.They are afraid of misunderstanding.However,words were invented to communicate.If everyone keeps silent,how could the misunderstanding stop going deeper and deeper?We need communication.

I appreciate Travis’ giving up in the end.I am touched a lot.It is a dolorous ending because Travis hurts too much.But it is also a right choice.Actually,Travis once hesitates.How he wants to live a happy life in Paris,Taxes with Jane and their son!But when he sees Jane,he can’t help asking her a lot and drinking a lot.Four years’ walking doesn’t change anything when he sees Jane again.The sorrow and grief come back..He knows that if he lives with Jane,nothing will be different from their former life.He also once thinks about taking Hunter away,but he gives up and sents him back to Jane.He hopes they can be happy.He loves them by leaving all the loneliness and hurts to himself.Though painful,he needn’t to suffer the feeling of guilty any more.He is smiling when he turns around.The final giving up shows Travis’ understanding of love.Love is not to occupy but to help to achieve her or his happiness.That’s true.

What about the future?I guess he will go to Paris,Taxes,find a house there and live a lonely life until death.How I wish he could find another woman and build a family.But I know his love has been burned in the big fire.It’s hard to heal the wound of heart.Jane may give up the job she is doing and live a peaceful and happy life with Hunter.Walt and his wife will have their own baby and they will also be a happy family.I can’t stop feeling sorry for Travis.How I wish to hug him and warm his frozen heart.

Seeing the film is enjoyable.Not only the plots,but the pictures are attractive.Let me take the beginning for example.Yellow mountains,spacious desert,distant view and a lonely eagle.A man comes from the faraway in the sound of guitar,and then goes to the distant again.There is nothing in the distant but the distant.What is he looking for or running after for?What happened?Questions filled audience up at once.Then the story begins.Pictures are wonderful and designed carefully to make audience think more.We have to admire the director Wim Wenders whose films are all main to reflect something excepting for making money.And <Paris,Texas>is the most successful one among his films.

Touching the truth may be painful,but necessary.I can feel the pain that can’t be borne in life from the film.I love the sad story.I love the film.
