In our modern society, internet has become an essential part in most people’s life. Though it, we can get latest and various information quickly; we can get contact with our family or friends who are not here with us regularly; we can entertain ourselves easily. So it seems that internet does help us live a better life. However, using internet in an excessive way can also be harmful to our human beings.

For one thing, excessive internet use does no good to our health. Not only the radio the computer spreads does harm to our heads and eyes, but also the way we sit easily makes us tired and influences our shape without awareness. For instance, there are plenty of statistics showing that the number of children who have near-eyesight is much more than few years ago when internet is not that popular. I myself would have a headache if I spend more than four hours on the internet a day. Besides, nowadays, many white-collars, who have to spend most of their time in front of computers using internet, have pear-like figure. And all these have become a social phenomenon, which draws much attention from all walks of the society.

For another, using internet too much may make us addicted to the virtual world and escape from the reality, which would lead to the difficult when we communicate with others in the real world. This can be surely exemplified. We know that almost every one of we university students is the user of RENREN website and QQ. Without exaggeration, to some students, these two things can be regarded as the main part of their daily life at school. They only use them to contact with others in the same campus by clicking others’ image to talk, sending his or her own mood within a sentence showing everyone, commenting on others’ mood or sharing, and even having a meeting or discussion on the internet. Frankly speaking, this can bring many conveniences, but depending too much on it can be really terrible. I’ve found that two students who make jokes on each other quite often on the internet hardly say hello or smile interactively.

All in all, it is harmful for us using internet excessively, both physically and mentally.
