Last week’s story was about my uncle, this time, it is my grandpa’s turn.

There was a high school in the remote mountainous area, the principal of that school chanced to be my grandpa. He had to go to the town to attend conference about teaching every month. Then, one afternoon, after attending the meeting, my grandpa went on his way back to the high school. He stopped in a deserted monastery to rest himself as usual. However, he did not bargain for the sudden change in the weather.( similar to my uncle huh?) , so he determined to spend a night in the deserted monastery. In the midnight, my got up and went to pee. When he passed through the gallery, he seemed to see something on the wall, flickering silently. At that time, my grandpa was a member of Party, and he was a confirmed atheist, so he walked up and wanted to see what it was. My grandpa clearly saw several “people” wearing shabby clothes on the wall, standing shoulder to shoulder, waving their hands, trying to yell out something, but there was nothing but silence.

The next morning, my grandpa left the temple and arrived at school. Then someone told him that over 30 years ago, a team of communists had had revolution activities there, but at last they all heroic martyred, right in front of the wall.

When asked my grandpa whether he was afraid, he said “why should I have to be afraid? They were my comrades!”
