In love affairs, do you believe in fate?
    In the movie Sleepless in Seattle, Sam and Annie lived far away from each other. One was in the west, the other east. Their hearts distanced even farther away. One was lost in the sorrow of losing his beloved wife, the other in the joy of marrying her boyfriend soon.
    Both having faith in genuine love, one didn't think he would fall in love with another woman again, and the other moved to tears when hearing the story over radio and started to really care about the stranger. They hadn't met before; but he fixed his eyes on her at first sight in the street as if they had been friends for ages, while she was ready to give up her would-be husband for this unknown man simply as her intuition told her.
    It seemed to be fate that unites them together. But to consider it deeply, is it really the fate that counts?
    In the movie, we can see that when the feelings come to the right place, they start to play the cards right. Sam’s friends keep introducing new ladies to him, yet he refuses those whom he shows no interest in. Annie is always so keen to find Sam thatshe has even traveled to Seattle to meet him. Pitifully, however, she stops in the street and only says hello to him because of mistaking Sam’s sister for his girlfriend. She considers herself foolish and returns, getting ready to marry her present boyfriend. However, her love for Sam hasn’t faded away in the mind. She’s written a letter to Sam and wants to date him at the top of Empire State Building in New York City. And Sam, who lives in Seattle, catches up with his son and files to New York . Then they finally meet and all ends well.
    Seemingly, many people may believe it is fate that brings about the happy ending of the two persons who live in different cities and who used to know nothing about each other. But personally, if they didn’t make efforts to seek the genuine love rooted in their heart, how could they meet each other and finally be in love?
    Back to real life, if you fall in love with somebody, but you don’t speak your heart out, how can this person know it? If you just tell the person that you grow on him or her, but you don’t make any efforts to show your love, how can he or she believe you and be with you? When you feel that someone around may be the special one whom you are looking for, are you really going to do nothing but just wait for fate to come by? If you don’t help ourselves, who can help?
    The beginning is important, but developing matters more. After two persons meet, it will take a long period for them to know each other better and to determine whether it’s fit to build up a long relationship. The pursuit of love calls for efforts; the same is true with the maintenance of love. It takes even your heart and soul to know one another better and to build up an everlasting affection.
    As is known to all, there are so many fishes in the sea. You wait, you watch, and you can never know what you are going to catch. But once you see the fish you like, it may not come to you itself. You have to do actively rather than wait passively; you may even need to dive into the river to catch the fish that attracts you, if necessary. If you fail to grasp it and give up your efforts, it will flee and may not come back again. What you should do is to give your love the wings to fly.
    Remember: love is a game ever awaiting your participation and efforts. Just as in life, it is a game of chance; if you never try you can never win.
    Next time when love finds you, don’t let it go by easily and take efforts to make it long-lived.
