Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Jet Li are all my favorite action movie stars. Stallone is more than 60 years old but he acted the leading role in "Rambo 4" two years ago. I admire his power and courage at his age. Jason Statham, who is well-known for "The Transporter" series, is the youngest actor in this film. With "Huo Yuanjia" as his last martial art film, Jet Li has tranfered most of his energy and enthusiasm to programs for public good such as "One foundation". Here is the storyline from IMDB: Barney Ross leads the "Expendables", a band of highly skilled mercenaries including knife enthusiast Lee Christmas, martial arts expert Yin Yang, heavy weapons specialist Hale Caesar, demolitionist Toll Road and loose-cannon sniper Gunner Jensen. When the group is commissioned by the mysterious Mr. Church to assassinate the merciless dictator of a small South American island, Barney and Lee head to the remote locale to scout out their opposition. Once there, they meet with local rebel Sandra and discover the true nature of the conflict engulfing the city. When they escape the island and Sandra stays behind, Ross must choose to either walk away and save his own life - or attempt a suicidal rescue mission that might just save his soul.
The producer claimed that this movie was a miracle which involved the most awesome action cast ever assembled. And the trailer of "The Expendables" is so attractive that I can't help looking forward to seeing it. I am a action movie fan, dreaming to be a muscular man as strong as Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone in my childhood. But this film is not as good as I expected. Several reasons should be pointed out:
First, the whole story is outdated and lack of creativity.
Second, the actors are really too old to challenge themselves and fullfill difficult actions as before. How time flies!
This movie recalled my memory back into the 1990s which was a golden times of action film. Nostalgic mood arose from bottom of my heart.
