Living in the metropolis and living in the village

Choosing where to live can lead to total different life-style. Living in a big city means that you may find it hard to escape from or ignore the hustle and bustle of city life, while you have access to all kinds of conveniences it provides you. By contrast, if you prefer to stay in a small village, you can enjoy your peaceful, easy and nonchalant life, and free from all sorts of distractions and diversions that many city dwellers feel it difficult to get rid of, but you will miss many exciting and marvelous moments. Neither is perfect.

These two choices differ in opportunities that they can offer. When you stay in a   large city, you are more likely to find a rather good job, win recognition from somebody, or get promoted. However, if you choose to live in a small village, it is entirely possible for you to loss all those advantages. You may get an ordinary low-paid job, and never think of switching to another area or finding a new job, because you have limited alternatives or you have been accustomed to that simple life and lost your passion. These are some of the influences your living place exerts on you.

Besides, they are quite different in infrastructure. It’s easy to find beautiful parks, schools of high quality education, thorough public transportation system and so on. But you may miss all of them if you are in a small village. You will get tired of finding a good middle school for your children, you may get angry about the terrible public transport, or turn nervous when you have to find a public toilet.

More importantly, their entertainment industries are not at the same level. You can find more recreation grounds to relax or gather in. When you are dull at home, you can go to a pub, or a KTV to kill time together with your friends. Yet, you do not have these choices if you are in a quiet small village.

Especially when nights come, you will be fascinated by the blinking neon lights. Night scene in a metropolis is absolutely a feast for the eyes. Living in the metropolis can be very exciting and full of choices but it still depends on which kind of life you like. So don’t make your decision too fast, you need to consider whether you enjoy the time when you are lying on an easy chair, listen to the whispers of the nature world. If you are not satisfied with this tranquil life, you should become a city dweller in spite of its minor irritations.

For me, I prefer a quiet life. But, you know, we should struggle for living. And metropolis are good choices indeed.

Yeah, that's also what I want. But it seems to be a kind of Utopian dream...
