Hawthorn Love is based on something that is similar to memoir which was written by 

Jingqiu in 1977,narrative parts of the book are writtenby  Amy and conversation parts are 

from the original words of Jingqiu.

 

 

1977 was the first year of restoring college entrance examination system after the culture 

revolution in China,at that time,Jingqiu had participated in the work,replacing the duties of her 

mother,and worked as a teacher in the attached primary school of the eighth middle school 

of city K,province L.She also applied to attend the college entrance exam.

 

 

Her life was already better many times than she replaced the duties of her mother,and this 

time fortunate enough to enroll in college entrance examination,she thought of Sun ever used 

those words to comfort her,saying she would move back from the countryside,saying 

Heaven has endowed me with talents for eventual use.

 

 

Unfortunately, when the prophecy of Sun began to become reality one by one,he himself 

became a beautiful dream.Seeing things,missing people,Jingqiu began to write the memoir 

to commemorate Sun with that period of time spend together.

 

 

Later she written the story about Sun and make it to a 3-million words novel,sent it to the magazine of L provincial literature.At that time,she even 

didn't know submission of novel should be written on the profile-paper rather than the general trabeculae writing paper.    

 

 

However,the novel was returned,editor comment said:"Writing is delicate,fresh style...but 

people lack fighting spirit...",called her rewrite the novel according to the comment and sent 

to L provincial literature again.

 

 

But Jingqiu didn't rewrite it,for one reason, she was busy preparing the exzaminations,for 

another,she wrote the novel to commemorate Sun,if changed it as the editor required,Sun 

would not make itself,so even if it would be published,there was no meaning.

 

 

Later,Lu Xinhua's Scar published,Chinese literature stepped into "Scar Literature" 

period...

 

Amy's father joked that regrettably the editor of L provincial literature was too timid,

otherwise he can be written into the history of Chinese literature replaced editors of Scar .

 

 

Ten years later,Jingqiu left city K and go to the capital city of province L to study,and then 

later her sister went abroad,her mother and brother immigrated successively,things at home 

were throw away.The rejection,no one knew where had it been threw,but the memoir writing 

in a diary was saved by her mother and taken to Canada.

 

 

When Amy finished writing fatal tender,she often received whispers or placards from the net

friends,who recommended to write about the story  of Jingqiu.At that time Amy didn't know

this story yet,only knew the other paragraphs,so she often "threat" Jingqiu,said to write her 

story,but she didn't agree.

 

 

On the Spring Festival of this year,Jingqiu brought her daughter Sara visited Amy with the 

diary,allowed Amy to pick out some contents to write something to mark the story happened 

thirty years ago.

 

 

Then here came the Hawthorn Love.
