For the past 2 months I have been learning to drive at a local driving school. Frankly it is much more difficult than I thought. When I got my motorcycle, I jumped on it and drove to work without any previous training at all. Learn to drive a car? Isn't it just a big toy? However, things turned out to be quite different. The seemingly simple tricks or moves aren’t simple at all.

The teaching process for the coach is very brief: when you see this, turn to the right; when you see that turn to the left… Then all that is left is practice, no revision next time, only negative comments: wrong again! Why hit the brake so hard? Forget to turn on the light again? Even can’t turn the wheel? Is the car parked straight? How stupid you are! What a road killer! It is very sad and frustrating when thinking of how we treat students. What a sharp contrast!

Our trainer seems not very patient and sometimes even gets mad at us trainees. To make the matter worse, we are not given much time to practice, for there are so many people waiting to be trained. It is said that our trainer is comparatively good and that many others are even more impatient and can be very fierce and tough. It is not uncommon to hear coaches curse.

I know eventually everybody will be able to pass the driving test. However, I want to really master the skills that I need to drive a car. I believe it is more than just getting a driving license; it will be of the utmost importance not only to me but to other road users as well. Before I actually drive my own car, I should be able to find the feel of driving a car.

Currently I’m practicing to pass the 4 out of 9 test. I feel passing over the 5 “pancakes” and speeding through the 3 doors with given width are the most difficult. Do you guys have any good advice or methods? Any practical suggestions are welcome! Or got any good website that I can use?
