Nowadays, the cell phone has become a daily necessity for everyone. It is so commonly used that you would be regarded as a weirdo if others happen to find out that you should have no mobile phone. However, the primary function of a cell phone is to make or receive calls. Therefore, if you say you can’t live without it, people would think it is a bit exaggerated.
My cell phone, however, serves as much more than an ordinary one. It’s multifunctional and inseparable from me to such an extent that I really cannot live without it for just a single day. While traveling on a bus or train, or waiting for somebody or attending a dull meeting, I would habitually reach for my cell phone, for there are lots of beautiful English articles or stories stored in it. The time seems well spent on these occasions. Only when you have nothing to do will you possibly feel bored. Before going to sleep, lying on the bed each evening, I would listen to some English bed time reading, the female sweet voice, or the rich male baritone, is always so pleasant with nice soothing music. Early next morning I would be waked up by the familiar beautiful melody starting up the mobile phone.
The phone I have now is actually the second one. When the first Nokia had accomplished its historic task, I decided to purchase a new one, a different one: a music cell phone. It was a BBK, not the fancy type but with a cute appearance. Ever since then, it has been my good companion as well as a close friend, who can listen patiently to my troubles and more importantly, help me calm down and cheer me up in its special way.
Once I gave as many as 4 lessons and did a lot of unnamable work. After such a long day at school, I came back home, tired and stressed. Knowing that I would still have to work extra hours before finally going to bed, I was so low that I didn’t have any motivation to go on with my life. I asked myself: “Is this the life I want? Why do I have to struggle so hard? Is it worthwhile doing all of this? What do I really want from life?”
I seemed lost, defeated and unable to get up again when I unconsciously reached my hand into my pocket and took out the mobile phone. I just fiddled with it a little and then turned on the music player. When the Japanese song called Stars began to play, I was immediately absorbed in the situation created by the music and the lyrics, though I don’t know a word of Japanese. Somehow I became the person in the song walking alone on the lonely road. The fields were dry and empty. And it was cold and blowing hard, only the stars shining brightly in the sky, leading me to my hometown. Life was hard but the dream was still in my heart. With the stars leading my way, I was determined to march forward for the dream in my heart, no matter what difficulties might come my way. When the song came to its end, I felt much better, to tell the truth.
Whenever I’m in a bad mood, I can always find something to listen to or sing to. I will never be tired of listening to the song titled Take Me to Your Heart. Take me to your heart take me to your soul; give me your hand and hold me; show me what love is—be my guiding star! It’s easy to take me to your heart. Listening to this sadly beautiful melody, you just cannot but sing along and forget all your trivial troubles or worries.
I’ve never been able to understand why the voice of Deng Lijun is so charming so sweet so hard to resist. When I’m listening to her song Tianmimi, meaning nicely sweet, I always wonder why some girls or women can produce such sounds as they are from heaven while some other women’s voices can be so horrible for the human ear. What a sharp contrast!
I suppose that on the long journey of life we all need someone or something to keep us company. And my cell phone has proven to be a good companion in life.
