Between a Rock and a Hard Place
Recently I have been visiting 4S stores. As I said in a previous blog, to have a car of my own is one of my dreams. And now this dream doesn’t seem so distant and intangible. With little school work for the time being, I began to select my dream car. It’s so nice to get my dream finally come true.
I like cars produced by Volkswagen, a German automobile company, which has 3 joint ventures in China. The budget I set for myself is about 150000, preferably less than that. After searching the Internet, looking at sample cars, I managed to narrow the search down to 2 types: Skoda by Shanghai Volkswagen and Sagitar by Faw-Volkswagen, both of which are 1.6l manual.
I know that both of these two cars are good ones. The problem is that they are similar in many aspects but each has its own defects. For the Sagitar, almost everything is superb except the old 2-valve engine. I’m afraid it is not powerful enough and consequently will affect its sensitivity when it starts and speeds up. For the Skoda, its brand name seems not as well-known and it has no ESP (Electronic Stability Program). However, the price is relatively inexpensive with a higher cost performance ratio. Furthermore, its trunk is unusually large and can hold and carry very large stuff.
Obviously, they have their own advantages and disadvantages. I wonder why they can’t combine them into one so that we don’t need to contemplate so much. I’ve been puzzling about it and indecisive for quite a few days. Do you guys happen to have driven these 2 types of cars? Which one is more comfortable to drive? Is the engine of Sagitar powerful enough for daily use? Or should I choose a Skoda, which is inexpensive but substantial?

- my friend,the two cars surely besutiful from your picture,the two are famous too,most common in our around seeing.to cars,my attitude is choose one which youself like most after your decide a basic main index.
each car has its own special character. moreover the factor fill each car diffierent sales hot point. just depending on the difference, its sales improve among different consuming people groups. but i feel ,as a family car, the two cars is enough to use daily driving. only which one you more like.perhaps,we females always make a choice through our intuition,hehe...
if I choose,I can choose the first.

- Hi friend, maybe you won't believe that Skoda Octavia is also our first option, which possesses high reputation among the cars within the budget of 150,000 yuan, due to its excellent function and exquisite manufacture. One of my friends who used to work in Volkswagen just bought a car of Skoda Octavia last year and he told me cars manufactured from Faw-Volkswagen and Shanghai Volkswagen function far superior to cars of other brands normally; nevertheless Shanghai Volkswagen is better at details.
Albeit I do not one hundred percent buy his theory, there is no doubt that Skoda excels in price, right??

- hurrymm: Hi friend, maybe you won't believe that Skoda Octavia is also our first option, which possesses high reputation among the cars within the budget of 15thank you for your advice. i do believe German cars are made by real engineers, who are willing to dovote time and money to invisible places. that's why the 2 types i chose are both German made. i'll try driving and then make the final decision. after all, the money i will spend is not a small sum. it is trully hard earned. :-)

Congratulations!thank you. i'm still in the process of picking the one that most suits me. with limited money, you just can't eat it and have it at the same time. maybe i ask too much, for life itself is imperfect. anyway, i'll be able to have a car of my own. :-)

- Didn't your article about buying a car till now. Quite surprised at the interest in European cars in the Chinese automobile market. I know little about cars, so I cannot comment on this. Seems the cars you are looking at are top quality ones. However, I often heard my friends saying that fuel economy is important in the choice of a new car. Having you own car can indeed improve family and social relationships. Trust you would be able to make a good choice.

I know little abouhehe, i don't know why i like German cars so much. i mostly consider the following factors: safety, handling capacity, and fuel economy. i don't pursue the excitement of racing, so i'll probably sacrifice power for safety, riding comfort, fuel consumption and maintenance. anyway, i'll just drive it to and from work, seldom on expressway. the bottom line is that it should be within the budget.
do you drive to work? i guess you guys have to drive slowly with so much traffic in Hongkong.
