My Answers to the 24 Questions Raised by One of My Former Students.

1047 views. 2011-11-11 20:08 |

Just this afternoon, I received a letter from a former student who is in college. She asked if I would be kind enough to answer 24 questions. It seemed more like a test than a questionnaire. I felt a little reluctant at first, but I agreed, seeing she appeared rather sincere. Maybe it was just a game or a kind of palm reading. So I did it for fun.

1. What is “attitude is altitude?”

It is Nick Vujicic's famous saying. I totally agree, for one’s attitude is vital and decisive in many ways. If you are standing high, you can see very far. Similarly, one’s self-perception determines the direction he goes in.

2. Did you get a gift that you think is the best and why?

Gifts can be in many forms. So it’s hard to compare. Seems all are good because what really counts is the thought behind the presents.

3. Can you tell us something that made you happy?

When my dream comes true, I think. When I find someone who can truly understand me, I would also be on top of the world.

4. Can you introduce one of your favorite books to us?

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoos.

5. Do you like the sea, why?

Yes maybe because it can set my imagination free.

6. Have you ever been in trouble? And your attitude to trouble?

Yes, of course. Trouble is just unavoidable. It can be a good thing, for it provides a chance for you to get mature.

7. If you can be a bird or a fish, which would you be ?

I would rather be a bird.

8. Can you introduce your hometown?

I think everyone loves his hometown. Mine is one of the best, if not the best. With mild weather and almost all kinds of food, it is an ideal place for us humans to live.

9. Can you define the friendship?

Friendship is mutual care and help. It involves respect and trust.

10. What will you do if a beggar begs money everyday in some place? Why?

I would first find out what situation he is in. I’m willing to help, but I don’t want to be taken advantage of.

11. What do you want to do on single day?

I even don’t know exactly when singles day is. I’m married, but somehow I miss the days when I was single. Being single, to some extent, means freedom and almost no responsibility.

12. Do you believe in love at first sight?

It’s possible but rare. I still believe in love.

13. The advantages and disadvantages of mobile phone

The advantage is obvious: convenience. The advantages are not yet clear. One is said to be the radiation which is harmful to our health.

14. Your attitude to money

Money is a double-edged sword. It could make life better but for some it could be the source of evil.

15. Where do you want to go if you can choose?

For the seeable future, Europe is my dream land.

16. How is the life in college?

I’m not the one to answer this question. College life has become a distant memory for me. I think it is an important stage of one’s life; it could serve as the bridge between ivory tower and the real world.

17. Should we take the PE test? Why?

It depends on your needs and purposes.

18. The difference between childhood and these days?

These days? I guess the difference is that you begin to know what life is.

19. The association of college

The question doesn’t make sense.

20. How do you deal with the relationships with your opponents?

I don’t have opponents. I would respect anyone who knows how to behave.

21. If you had to choose one of the five senses (sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch) to lose, which one would you choose to lose?

Silly question. I want all of them. I can’t imagine what life would be like with one lost.

22. How would you define trust? Is it just a feeling? Is it a decision?

It’s one of the basic elements in friendship. It is more of a decision than a feeling.

23. Which three words would you say best describe your personality? Give examples for each word you choose.

Kind of personal. I think it should be others to say. However, I don’t like to be judged by others. I just do what I believe is right. And I’m one who always tries to make improvement and enjoy life.

24. What kinds of changes in life do you look forward to? What kinds of changes do you not like? Why?

I welcome any changes that will make life better. People tend to live in their comfortable zone, but no one can prevent things from changing.

my female colleagues are crazy about doing horoscope tests. they say astrology is not blind faith and sometimes turns out to be accurate. the questionnaire seems to have intended to find out one's general views on life, but somehow i feel it is similar to horoscope quiz. hehe.

hehe. you're a smart person, being able to read between the lines. basically you're right. however, i don't think i'm a proud person. at least i dont want to be, despite the impression i might give. i dont know. :-)

why not? 'Proud' doesn't have to be a bad personality in some circumstances, instead it is somehow a nice one, like lotus.

Your English can equals Dr. Feng’s. From your answers, I just feel you as a diplomat. Aha, one of the five senses---sight is the thing I’m not willing to lose most.
