It has been a long time since I last came here and posted a blog. There’s always a rush at the end of a semester. Then came the New Year and now we’re still busy visiting friends and relatives. As usual, eating is indispensible at this time of year. To tell the truth, I have to remind myself again and again not to eat more than my stomach can take. However, sometimes I still feel a bit too full. It’s nice and pleasant to be together with friends and relatives, but I always feel sorry when thinking of the fact that my stomach has to suffer during the festival. Being guilty, I found an excuse and sneaked back home in town.
Many people have made New Year resolutions. I seldom do because I don’t believe the resolutions I make would be observed farther than January. However, I somehow feel the need to make one for the year of 2012. Now I officially announce that I will try to be more tolerant towards others. Recently I found myself easier to be peevish, especially with my family. I don’t think I’m a person who gets irritated easily. But deep down in my heart I have a tendency to pursue perfection. Though I generally mean well, it could make people feel that I am a little bossy or arrogant.
Past experience has taught us one’s words/behaviors could be misunderstood. Even if we actually have the same views, we might express them in different ways. More often than not, we get morose or even angry just for the way the other person said it, not the content itself. On the other hand, why do we need to agree with each other all the times? It’s unnecessary and impossible, as simple as that! Just think: How dull it would be if we all think alike! After all, we’re not products out of the production line. It is the diversity of various lives, including humans, that makes this world colorful and worth living in. What we need to do is respect it and learn.
A new year is a new beginning, which means hope for the future. However, we cannot deny or conceal the fact that we’re one year older. One’s whole lifetime is only several decades. You’re supposed to feel happy and content if you could live to the age of eighty. As I said before, life is to be enjoyed. There’s no reason at all for us to waste our precious and limited time. We live to work, to give, to contribute, to make the world a better place to live in. That’s definitely correct and the right thing to do. However, never forget to indulge yourself a little once in a while.
Life consists of little things most of the time. For most of us, life is insipid. But we should not just wait for the exciting moments to come. Instead we should actively try to create fun or jazz it up, not only for others but for ourselves as well. Who never gets upset? Who never has trouble in his life? Who can be 100% sure that he /she can always stay happy? So let’s be more understanding and give our hand to the one who needs help. Even a friendly greeting or just a smile could make a great difference.
