Many people say that we should do what we truly like. Yes we’re not supposed to let go of what we really like. The question is that, in many cases, we just cannot do what we dream of. The reasons could be various but are all concerned with reality. We may wish to travel around the world, but how can we come up with the cash that is needed? We may want to start our own business, but where can we get the launching capital and related technology? There’s always a big gap between our wish and reality.

Facing tough situations, we have to be realistic and learn to be a little more resilient. Knowing that not every dream can be realized doesn’t mean that we just give in to the harsh circumstances. One solution is to work out a long-term plan. If your dream cannot come true in five years, you can give yourself more time, say ten years to prepare yourself for that goal. Some dreams may seem almost impossible to be realized. In that case, you may have to give up for a while. I mean you can put your long-cherished dreams deep in your heart and wait for the opportunity to come. You don’t lose all the possibilities. In this world, you never know what may come your way tomorrow.

No matter what happens, life has to go on. As an individual, we don’t have full control of our life. Sometimes we have to yield and accept reality. The past is over; the future is yet to come; only the present is truly yours. So try to be real and live in the present. We should not only calmly accept what life has brought us, but learn to be content with ourselves, with our lives and optimistic about our future. Life is a complex set of events much of which of course is real, yet a large amount is just your view of what really happened. To some extent, it all depends on what kind of perception you have and how you look at it.

While one’s attitude is crucial, we have to live a real life. We cannot waste our precious time daydreaming. Action is always more important than thinking. Anything that is worth doing is worth doing well. Maybe it is not what you really like, but somebody has to do it. If it is something that is worth doing and you have decided to do it, the best and wisest way is to try hard to find the fun of doing it. Only in this way can you be truly happy and highly efficient. Once you find yourself enjoying it, you’ll see that moving ahead is the best definition of living life.
