The recent news came as a big political event that former Chongqing Party Secretary Bo Xilai has been charged with serious violation of Party discipline. For me, before the release of the CPC Central Committee’s decision, I had vaguely felt that Bo was involved in the case of Wang Lijun. However, I was still astonished when my hunch came true.
What is ironic is that these two high-ranking officials were widely regarded as heroes in the attack against gangs. How was it possible that they became “bad guys” almost overnight? Up to now, we still don’t seem very clear about what really happened. Why on earth did Wang go into the American Consulate? Did he feel insecure or just want to escape further involvement of wrongdoings? Was it all due to the pressure from Bo? What kind of role did Bo play in the case of Neil Heywood? With the information available so limited, it was natural that some people were spreading “rumors”. Some others go so far that they believe it is simply a game of political power struggle.
Perhaps we should give them more time to do a thorough investigation before making it known to the general public. Here I just hope we will not deny everything one did when he is down. The spirit of seeking truth from facts should never be abandoned. Let’s hope it is not a political fight. On the contrary, it is a wonderful example that there’s no privileged citizen before the law. We have this sincere wish because politics does have something to do with us ordinary people. I believe everyone prefers to live in a stable society, not willing to see politicians fighting for power at the cost of us common people.
