I’ve gained 11 Kilograms!

Hot 7698 views. 2013-11-1 15:54 | difficulty, actually, somehow, person, amount

When I was ill several months ago, my weight decreased dramatically from 58 to 49 kilograms. And it was for a person who was 175 centimeters tall! As a result, I felt dizzy all the time, and couldn’t use my eyes long. I even had difficulty walking and speaking, for the amount I was able to eat was too little. I felt full, somehow, when I actually ate just a little.

I went to many hospitals, public and private, to seek medical treatment, but it was all of no avail. Not only did the physical health get worse, but my mental health was also getting worse and worse. Being hopeless and anxious, I even had the idea of killing myself. For me, to live a normal life became a luxury, for there was no life quality to speak of.

Things began to change when the father of one of my former students referred me to Dr. Zhou. It was the turning point. Only in the second week did the medication I took start to take effect. Gradually I could eat more without causing any stomach trouble. I felt I had more strength than before. Naturally my mental condition also got better. So far I’ve gained 11 kilograms in weight. In the eyes of my friends and students, I had always been very thin and tall. Frankly I never imagined that I would be that heavy. A bad thing can turn into a good one. So never lose confidence for the simple reason that we never know what will happen the next moment.

I was and still am very grateful to the doctor and the nurses. As it were, they saved my life. We humans are actually so vulnerable. When we get sick, we have to rely heavily on doctors. The job they do is solemn as well as noble. They deserve our respect. However, if a doctor misdiagnoses an illness, it could be a matter of life and death.

Through my one year of DioEnglish life, I can see you’re one of the few writers who has already owned unique style. That’s really not easy for all of us aren’t native English speakers.

Glad to hear that! Only when we had the low time of life can we cherish it now. I have similar experience as yours.

So happy to see your recovery from the tormenting illness. Sometimes, I wonder why bad things happen to good people, while those who are cruel and inhumane live a carefree life in luxury. Having seen so much, I have to say that luck and fate does play a part in our lives.

We do not know what hunger is until we have starved at least once. We do not know how fortunate we are until we suffer from some serious illness. Now that you have tasted such a bitter experience, you should be able to live to your best and understand how fragile our health is. Reading what you have written, it does remind us that we should be content with what we have, health comes first and everything else is not that important.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us, so that we can understand illness without going through the pain and suffering. We always hear people say. 'If serious illness does not kill you, fortune and good luck would follow'.

Wish you the best, my friend.

Yeah, health is something that we're not fully aware  of  its value until we lose it. We have only one life and then it's gone. So we have every reason to take care of ourselves and cherish each moment we have.

I feel warm in my heart while reading your comment. Maybe  we have to admit that fate  does play a role in our lives. but I believe eventually, in the long run, life is fair to each of us. We always get something in return when we lose something.
Yes, as you said, i gained a deeper understanding of life. I learned to be content, to be thankful, to be tolerant and to be more understanding. Compared  to health, fame, power and wealth are all nothing. We shoud have dreams, but first of all, we should know what is truly important to us.  Thanks for your understanding  and support!

Oh, now I see the reason for your disappearance from this space for so long. I am sorry for the misfortune happening to you, my friend, but I am still glad to know your recovery and the hard-earned life lessons you learned during the process.

Really long time no see. I also miss you guys. Yes as you said it was a hard earned lesson. Work is important; personal achievement is important, money is important.  But compared to health, they are all nothing. Health should always take precedence over other matters.
