Enough is as Good as Feast

You know this guy? He is Jose Mujica, the Uruguay president. He is famous for being the poorest president in the world. He lives on the farm, which actually belongs to his wife. His salary is about 11 thousand dollars, but 90% of it is donated to the country's welfare projects. His most valuable possession is his old Volkswagen beetle which he refused to sell though someone has offered one million dollars to buy it.
When asked why he leads such a thrifty life, he replied, "The poor are those who always ask for more but not those who possess less." "They say I'm poor but I don't think so. The poor are those who are always busy making money and dreaming of living a luxurious life without knowing contentment," he added.
It is obviously a rare life attitude in today's society where you can find temptation almost everywhere. Some people are so busy pursuing their dreams and achieving their goals that they have no time to enjoy a leisure moment. Cases of those who got what they dreamt of at the expense of their health are not uncommon and that is exactly what most of us are still doing now. It's like we're on a fast going train and we just cannot stop moving forward. We're going with the crowd, but have we figured out what we really want out of this journey, the only life journey we have? I didn't mean we should not follow our dreams; What I intended to say is that we have to strike a balance. One's desire is insatiable but one's life is limited. Excessive desires will make you greedy and worn out. Therefore, just give yourself a break and learn to enjoy what you have. Enough is as good as a feast.

Interesting story. This is certainly somebody who you can trust. He is happy with only the basics of life and don't expect much in material things. However, as a President of a country, he should look presentable and it seems he is presentable. The Volkswagen is classic and I wonder how he manage to find the parts and keep it going. Hope there are more simple people like him.

To tell you the truth, I got very ill. Fortunately, I recovered eventually, thank you God! And I have returned to teaching work last year after working in the students' affairs department for a year.

Having gone through such an illness would make you stronger, resolute, and treasure good health. You have experienced much more that others including me. Anyway, as I always, tomorrow is guaranteed to nobody. Live it to your best.
My family want me to visited them in UK, but I have to gather everything together and go there to finish them all in one shot later. Meanwhile, I am spending the Spring Festival here in Hong Kong. Wish you the best and hope to see more of you here.

- yes, we hard work at expense of sacrifice family gathering and maybe our health. When we really rich, then we pay again for the physical health to make up what we lost on the road.
