493 views. 2009-5-4 23:40 |Individual Classification:Puzzle|

The number is Albert Einstein's IQ score. What about yours?I got the negative points...

I have been following an England Professor for a long time, I love his puzzles,
But I seldom got them all. This is the last Friday's puzzle.
His lion died of malnutrition for everybody visiting his blog being so good at solving puzzle.
From now on, he posted sans lion, so I'm not afraid of hunting by this big cat. So, let's go….
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your task is to identify the phrase indicated in the following types of words….
for example: YOU JUST ME
In this instance the answer is ‘just between you and me’.
Now that you have the general idea, try these six:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1)SALE SALE SALE SALE                              FOR SALE
2)STAND
   I                                                                   I UNDERSTAND
3)BRO KEN                                                    BROKEN IN HALF
4)R | E | A | D | I | N | G                                    READING/ BETWEEN/ THE/ LINES
5)TIMING TI-MING                                       SPLIT SECOND TIMING
6)THE GORILLAS MIST                                GORILLAS IN THE MIST

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please press your keyboard ctrl+A, then the answers will show.
Of course, there are some other solutions, the answer is not the only one.
Welcome to post your answers if you have another ones.
For example,I regarded  the 3) as "Broken in O and K" means a quarrel between friends:
“My bike was broken, will you lend me yours tomorrow?" "OK.". However…so…
Alas,I am quite a mean person to get this answer.
Just for my bike broken and after someone standing me up, I locked myself out……

Sally_Fan: Confusing...
It just likes trick questions in Chinese.
The example has showed to us, you can solve it like this:
"JUST", this word  between "You" and "ME" these two words,
so the answer is "just between you and me" ,an English phrase as we all knows, meaning secret things before telling someone somthing that you don't want them to tell anyone else.
What I interprated is still made you feel confused?

All right, I got four correct! I had thought the 4th one was reading section, for lines and lines are just what we call sections. The last one , the gorillas mist turned out to be a movie's name, but it does not make sense, for the answer just switches some word orders, the last one is not a good question.

It is said that maybe in the last century there was an American whose IQ was 160 or higher, according to some science report. However, these American remained a farmer to the last day he died, and he did not contribute much to the world except labor work. To be honest, I was born on the same day as Albert Einstain, yet I do not feel sometimes I am smart. In fact, these questions your teacher asks you cannot test one's IQ. It got something to do with Culture. If you are familiar with English, and also their culture, you would feel the same as me.And you would not blame yourself for getting negative points.

Such as these questions I got quite familiar for I was some kind of student who competed in the National English competition in high school and junior.
Also the first one, I already got too familiar in the Japanese riddles too, they got the same game as this one.
If you get more familiar with English culture, you sure gonna do better.
