In our culture, sleep paralysis is widely known as "ghost pressing on body" or "ghost pressing on bed."
If you had had this frightening experience,I think you must know what I talk about.
A ghost is believed to sit on and assault the sleeper by someone,
but the truth I wanna tell you is--"No,this belief is wrong."
I took a questionnaire of sleep experiences made by J.A.Cheyne,
there is a standard 7-point scale for all experiences.
1 is "vague and suggestive, more like a hint of something"
while 7 is "a very clear and distinct impression,as clear as any everyday experience".
The reason of my taking is that I had suffered sleep paralysis for a long time especially during these two or three years
and I am still suffering now.I think it's also the reason of my sleepless at night.
Before I took it I made a simple understanding of Sleep Paralysis although I knew a few about it ago.
Sleep paralysis is due to an ill-timed disconnection between the brain and the body
and it strikes as you are moving into or out REM-rapid eye movement sleep which is the deepest part of sleep.
It will be over in a minute or two as soon as the brain and body re-establish connections and you are able to move again.
However, the terrible sensations how you felt during sleep paralysis can stay a long time in your memory.
In medical science, about half of all people are believed to experience sleep paralysis sometime during their life.
It's usually harmless if you just have one or two.
In some region of Southeast Asia, there are some cases of teenagers who die in their sleep,
sometimes after fighting for breath but without thrashing around.
Of course,I don't intend to tell you such horrible events which may give you nightmares.
The result of my questionnaire is terrible for my average score of these questions(about 30) is above 5.
I am not scared of it and I always try and face these problems properly.
It seems queer to writing such things to somebody I didn't know.
But I can tell you I'm the living proof that it's harmless if you know how to treat it correctly.

May everyone peace.
