Presents selection
Sarah sent me a text this morning and invited us this Saturday afternoon to join the one-month birthday party for her baby-girl, Melis. So joyful to hear that accompanying a little bit confusion. I lost my idea in presents. Generally, following Chinese customs, people shall bring some gifts, or more directly today, money to attend the celebration. Apparently it does not meet the logic here; giving money could be regards as an insult. But what type of presents shall it be, plus, Melis’s father is a Cyprus immigrant? I know few things about their hobbies.
Best way may be to contact some of my friends who also got the invitation and do what they will do. I rang Ying enquiring the Saturday event, she got the invitation too, and planned to buy a toy for the baby-girl. I told her my problem. ‘What about a dress for the baby?’ Ying said. She is now working in a travel agency near the high street.
‘Well, that could be a wonderful idea! And could you just do ma a favour, and buy one for me, I’ll pay you back when we meet in Sarah’s home.’
After getting the affirmative answer, I felt much more relax. It is real an annoying thing sometime to find a proper gift, isn’t it?
