The May Day is coming, the three-day holiday would be a short break for most guys. Usually many people have already booked tickets and now are on the way to somewhere else for having fun. While I just choose to stay home. Since it is the best time for me being alone. Some friends suggest me going somewhere and should not be home on holidays. They will say, “Hey, you see, you are young, and look at those old people, they also spend time tripping around, why not take a break to have fun go somewhere.” I just reply that I’d rather like making full use of this time being home.
Truth to be told, most of those places of interests are now crowded at this special time. A not well known place as long as there is a possibility to develop into a scenic spot, it soon will turn into a hot place in the name of some legendary stories or tales. A temple could be the most successful commercial model. Since almost everyone wants to pray for the Buddha in a temple, all year around, that kind of place is filled with burnt incense smell. People come to wish a good fortune, promotion, a luck to date with an ideal spouse and so forth. Usually after the religious ritual, donation would be the routine action most of prayers follow, from the amount of several hundreds to thousands does not seem surprise. If there was a Buddha there, I do not know how could he handle with all of prayers’ wishes in the same time and how does he feel by people gathered to send him money.
It reminds me of the a trip when it was years ago to a place nearby. We passed by, actually were arranged by the tour guide, a temple where seems to be magnificent. After the wish and pray we were asked to donate money by four young monks who murmured in their mouths with sutra. I was not so sure if they were really chanting those scriptures while they just acted very seriously meanwhile by knocking wooden fish. Now that I was at the donation box, I just gave a hundred as a good wish to everything. Almost everyone did that, only one of my colleagues told a monk if he could split his note worth of one hundred, he deliberately said that he had no additional money for going back home, and since the Buddha was so generous and merciful that would never complain and doubt his sincerity by chipping in just several pocket money. That monk dissatisfied with that explanation, and frowned upon him. He succeeded going back without paying a single coin into that box.
The same as always, I am home and enjoying the quietness and I could be indoors all day long except for the walk after dinner. That is my best moment to have fun. If there was God or Buddha, I just pray for myself, I believe the almighty king who creates us knows how to discipline everything he made.
