Dragon Boat Festival

Today is the traditional festival, Dragon Boat Festival. I still got up very early. Since the nice moment should not be missed even the sweet dream could not stay me on bed. When it comes to those traditional customs., many of traditional things that we almost forget and they are to be sealed into the memory of history. We eat fast food and go to MacDonald, but have little some local specialties. we see Hollywood blockbusters, but see few books. We use simplified Chinese and modern English, but hardly recognize and write traditional Chinese characters.
I am not good at warping Zongzi. After having tried many times, declaration of clumsy hands made from mom shows my failure. Then nothing else I can do but wait to eat. Those ones with green bamboo leaves are really conspicuous and lovely stored in the bamboo basket. Both the equipment and food are natural and green without contamination. I just feel no worry to have some.
The rain visits and adds the traditional atmosphere to the special festival. It is said the Elnino might bring much severer flood in vast of southern places. If so, it is terrible. Landslide, debris flow, power shortage and damages of constructions, potential unavoidable death of innocent people, they all make this summer an uncertainty. I am with great appreciation of being here since it safe to dwell in.

- As I passed the food stalls this morning, there were lots of Zongzi for sale hanging merrily on display. They were selling quite well.
I love that taste of the glutinous rice of the Zongzi. Every grain of rice has that sticky delicious taste. It goes so well with Soy sauce. I don't seem to get tired of them and have eaten them for past few days. My neighbors said that if you eat too much of these, you would lost your appetite as glutinous rice is hard to digest in the stomach. That seems to be true, but never mind, I am gonna eat them for the next two days then return to normal food. Once a year eat whatever we like. What a nice excuse.
It is indeed a pity that people are slowly forgetting bout traditional Chinese food and snacks and instead choose to eat fast food like KFC and Macdonald. Thanks to the elders who are still around to make these traditional food for us otherwise we won't be able to enjoy them.
Indeed we should be grateful that we are living in times of peace and prosperity, but somehow natural disasters happen frequently. Hope those responsible can ensure our safety.

- I like that kind of smell of Zongzi and have already had some. Everything has its two sides. As Zongzi, since it is made of glutinous rice which is not easy to digest. Therefore eating too much is not that good. Actually some others made of glutinous, such as glutinous rice cake also has that problem if we eat too much. But it does not mind if we just have little, or not that much.

- I am the kind of guy who have no self control in eating. I have ate a bit much Zongzi, so I think it is enough. Eat again next year. This morning I woke up extra early at 6 am. I could do much more work and plenty of time to use. I walked around the gardens, did some physical exercise and stretched my body at bit. Good feeling.

- Right, next year, at the same time, enjoy that yummy zongzi again. I got up at five o'clock in the morning. Birds are already there singing happily. So I just got up. Walk around, take some stretches. A nice begins from the peaceful morning.
