What we learnt

One time in school we could solve equations, do calculus, remember the periodic table of elements, understand laws of physics, learn the knowledge of genes, also study history and politics. We seemed to be versatile to figure out all problems. That was a time we did not need to care too much about everything except for schooling. Years later, we are working for life and usually unavailable to acquire something new. We do numbers by a caculator. We use a phone to call or send messages to someone without the necessity of knowing how a phone works. We drive a car to somewhere only and do not need the knowledge of how an engine operates. After graduation, linear equations or works of Shakespeare are rarely used or referred agaian. Even the language of English is only used for greeting, something like “Hey", or "Hello".

- That is because what we were learning are all for getting a good mark. Also, in the aspect of Chinese education system, we are scheduled in curriculums of those seemingly impractical but actually elementary part which serves higher or the advanced education. The school system has a long and also scientific history, that is why most employers ask for academic background. Believe that what we learn could have all been put into practice; it's only our personal development that makes us distant from school knowledge.
