Following My Hunch

103 views. 2023-10-11 20:22 | career, hunch, decision

That evening, I found myself at a pivotal moment in my career, the future uncertain and shrouded in mystery. It all began with an enigmatic proposal during a car ride, hinting at a fresh start in an unfamiliar place.

Intrigued, I couldn't help but ask, "Could you tell me more about this project?"

My companion, hands firmly on the wheel, began to divulge, "It involves a new company, but it's located far from our current province."

Naturally, I probed further, "What else can you share?"

He continued, "We'd be there right from the inception, witnessing its birth, but it also means an extended period away from home."

Contemplating the proposition, I replied, "I need some time to think."

In response, he presented an alternative, saying, "Alternatively, we could explore launching a business right here in our city, leveraging our existing expertise. This way, we wouldn't have to venture far from home."

As we navigated through the darkened streets, the faint, golden glow of streetlamps illuminated the path before us. I remained silent, lost in thought about the diverging paths set before me. Deep down, I firmly believed that any worthwhile endeavor demanded meticulous planning and attention to detail. In that moment, I resolved to follow my own path, preferring the autonomy of independent pursuits over imposing my will on a reluctant partner. I held the belief that if he was genuinely committed to assisting or sharing his authentic plan, it would be well-structured and as elaborate as a banquet. Yet, I received no such specifics. Only vague solutions confused me.

At the corner of my community, he brought the car to a stop, and I stepped out into the night. We exchanged warm goodnight wishes before parting ways.

Over the years, I remained steadfast in my commitment to follow my instincts, and in time, it became evident that I had made the right choice. No further details or developments about his initial plans ever came to light, and I was relieved not to have been entangled in an uncertain venture. It was a tiny episode in trusting my intuition and taking control of my own destiny.
