Recently,my uncle recommeds the popular on-line Harvard curriculas to me.Then I try to watch these videos on the Internet. And I find that the curriculas are really interesting, both for the contents and teachers.Positive psychology is one of the most popular courses, which leaves a deep impression on me.
The lecture is mainly discussing the topic of happiness .In the beginning of the lecture, professor Tal puts up a question:How can we become happier, and what's the defination of wellbeing? Then Professor Tal expresses his idea of it,he says"happiness is much more contigent on our state of mind than our status or the state of bank accout. "In our whole life,we just need chip away some limitations around us.Because our soul grows more by subtraction than by addition.Like the story of masterpiece--David,his author Michelangelo just found a marble in the quarry, and the he chipped away the excessive stones,as a result, one of most famous masterpieces came up.Although the production of a mastepiece is not so easy, unlike the saying of Michelangelo,we can learn the essence of it: life wil become happier if you can get through some excessive limitations in daily life, live a simple and easy life, and you can enjoy more wellbeing in spite of your fortune or social status.
what's more, professor Tal also express a important thory: learning is a life-long process, after we leave shcoool,we should pursue knowledge by ourselves. In school,we receive all kinds of information, just like a container, more information more better. However,we should learn how to transform the information and try to change the shape of our containers. That is to say,we have to broaden our horizon, diversify our frame of knowledge, and make full use of knowlege to change our life etc.
All in all, watching the vedio of positive psychology is a good experience ,which is totally different from the model of our traditional undergraduate class. If our undergraduate course can take own thinking of students into acount ,instead of just telling the theory .In my opinion, our education can become more vivid if teachers can give enough room for students to think.
