What’s true love? What would you think about forbidden love, for instance, of love between two hot girls?
After watching the film ‘Bloomington’ last week, I am heartily impressed by the story between the two girls. Compared to the film ‘Broke-back mountain’, which tells a heart-wrenching story about two men regarded each other as the most wonderful part in their life and eventually couldn’t escape from the customs, ‘Bloomington’ is much more fresh and comfortable, no much confrontations, no much quarrels, just love and also, separation.
The film is about a former child-actress, Jackie, attending college for independence and be romantically involved with a female professor, Catherine (act by Allison McAtee). Jackie, whose great wish is to blend in with her peers which proves to be difficult at times, is ready to explore new life on her own. Catherine, who had a horrible childhood experience, is a mysterious teacher with an infamaous lady-killer reputation. Even though be forbidden, Jackie falls in love with Catherine’s charm and the two outsiders begin an instantly relationship.
The two find much in common and share the precious moments between each others. Catherine, as a teacher and an elder, helps Jackie reform her confidence and experience her first true love, while Jackie lets Catherine begin to trust in people and get a sense of security. Two souls with but a single thought, two hearts that beat as one. Through the life together, their bond grows stronger and more personal, until suddenly Jackie is confronted with a chance of acting in a new film. Armed with renewed confidence and insights, Jackie decides to give it her all to fight reclaim her old role. Actually, that is the point why they finally separate with each other. Eventually, Catherine finds Jackie’s illicit behavior, once mostly unnoticed, is now attracting unwanted attention, while for Jackie, she discovers charting her own course might also mean having to wave farewell to Catherine.
The film ends without telling any indentified ending. I still believe if two people are meant to be together, eventually they will find their way back. Back to the question at the beginning, what is true love? Actually, that is a kind of understand between each other heart and soul, about dream and life, no matter who the two are and what the relationship is between them. Likewise is said in August Rush, sometimes the world tries to knock it out of you, but I believe in true love the way that some people believe in fairy tales.
So, Best wishes to them both.
