Allowances on festivals

This afternoon as I passed the opened door of our headmaster's office, he called me in and gave me a ￥100 note after I was asked to write down my signature on a payroll. This gave me a pleasant surprise. The principal told me we received the allowance thanks to the coming festival commemorating Qu Yuan. We ever got a certain amount of money or gifts on the festivals such as the Teachers' Day, Mid-Autumn Festival and New Year's Day. Although the cash and the objects were tiny compared with the preferential treatment of the other institutions or companies, a wonderful feeling of warmth would fill my heart on these occasions.

- Well, with that windfall, I am sure you won't mind buying me some nice dumpling as a gift to me. A dozen dumplings should be enough. Thanks in advance... haha.

- Are you a teacher? my company also gives us allowances on all of traditional festivals except the Teachers' Day.
haha, I envy teachers could have two very long holidays every year, totally almost 3 months.
