Today I stayed at our bungalow with mother hearing the call of a cuckoo from time to time. The call was so loud and clear that I couldn't help looking for the bird with my eyes. Finally I found it perching on the high electric wire not far from our backyard. The reverberating tone brought back my early memory of my home place. I still remember hearing a similar sound like this on the wooded outskirts of our county city when my first elder sister took me there by bike at an early summer. What they had in common was that both birds were chirping alone in the pastoral quiet.
