When we are asked to express our views or attitudes of something or somebody else that disappoints us, some of us would give a direct negative answer regardless of the feelings of the people concerned, and some of us would reply in a euphemistic way to avoid hurting others. Undoubtedly, the first kind of answer would bring about embarrassment or even anger, and the second would be more acceptable. So in spite of our claim to be treated frankly, we usually get annoyed with others about their telling the truth. We would prefer praise to criticism although we clearly know the praise is just flattery and the criticism is true.
