The last day of last semester we were told to have our fingerprints taken at the central primary school today. This morning as I went there at 8 o'clock, I found the corridor packed with my counterparts on the first floor of the teaching building. It seemed the fingerprinting had not started yet. With no one to keep order the situation was chaotic. I didn't know how and where our fingerprints to be taken except that our identification cards should be first handed to Mr. Zhang. I stayed away from the throngs for some time at the door of the building. Then I went to mother's for breakfast. At 10 o'clock I returned to the school. There were still scores of people waiting. More than an hour intervened before my turn.
