Yesterday I learnt on the net an old man living in solitude died unnoticed until ten days later the overpowering stench of his rotting corpse leaked the fact to his neighbors. It was nothing new for the similar case had happened before. So we cannot help reaching a conclusion that the filial piety is fading away. And it also exposed an estrangement between townspeople. Recently a law was made that all citizens must fulfill their duty to visit their living parents regularly, let alone the old and sick ones. But there are still no punitive measures against people who violate the law. In fact, it is a mere scrap of paper. When a nation enacts and administers a law for its citizens to repay their parents, the nation is doomed to destruction sooner or later.
