My second homeland

Hot 1520 views. 2013-7-24 23:23

We've settled here in Northeast over three decades. At first I was not used to the conditions of our new settlement. The coarse food, shabby housing and rugged road all disappointed me. But gradually my attitude changed with the improvement of our living standards. I even began to love my second homeland which keeps from falling a victim to flooding, earthquakes and pollution attacking many other regions of the country. I must put in a few other words for it with regard to son's choice leaving for other provinces for higher education. Our provincial capital ranks first  on forest coverage rate among all the cities in China. It is well designed and constructed, equipped with a standard drainage system thanks to the invaded Japanese which assures the city of escaping flood. It boasts famous universities as well as film making and automobile manufacture.

Of all the things affecting a family, the location of the family home has the most extensive lingering effect. It affects quality of life, income, status, jobs, health, education, esteem and security. Once settled down and establishing oneself, it would be difficult to relocate. Other pastures are always greener. We need not envy other places as every place has it's own advantages and disadvantages.
