Windows and customs

Hot 2673 views. 2013-7-27 00:32 | situation, Windows, windows, customs, without

In my memory, no cottage had back windows in my native village. It's unbearable to dwell in such a house of small depth in hot summer. So my former fellow villagers often passed the night in their yards or on their roofs in spite of being plagued by throngs of mosquitoes and wet with dew. After so many years I hope their situation has changed for the better. In fact, the house without back windows signified the backwardness and feudal-mindedness of the locals. It was thought that the opening of back windows would violate the privacy of the neighbors faced behind. Moreover the yard walls of every household were built high to block the curious eyes of the outsiders. Some households even had a screen wall erected inside their yards facing their gates to discourage the peeping glances. However every household could be overlooked from the roofs of its neighbors.

Well, it's really a bit hard to make a choie. But I do think it's time to have a try to open a back-window in order to spend the hot summer safely. what do you think?

Superstitions are hard to to change. Over here, a super modern city, people are still superstitious. They place those small round inverted mirrors near their windows The place red altars beside the main doors and inside the home, there are large altars where they place incense every morning.

The absence of a back window is against basic building norms. Air would not circulate unless there is an opening and an opposite outlet. It is not too late to make an opening for a window. It would be comfortable and look nice if you put a nice curtain for privacy. You can do it yourself if you have an understanding of brick laying.
