The maize harvesters I had known were large and left the harvested fields with long stalks of corn and a layer of seeds. It seemed a great waste to get in the crops by the machines. That was why they were not popular in the past. Recently I saw a smaller reaper which was more efficient than the large ones. It picked the corn ears and ground the stalks so successfully that a housewife living near the field complained that she could hardly find any seeds or stalks after it finished its work. It was really an improved machine. It may be welcomed by the local farmers.
