Yesterday was the 9th day of 9th lunar month, the Double Ninth Festival. On this day people usually ascend a height to enjoy a distant view with their kinsfolk for avoiding disasters. They also wear the fruit of medicinal cornel and appreciate the chrysanthemum together. The festival dates back to the time of the Warring States over two thousand years ago. This day has been designated as the Seniors' Day in some regions since 1980s calling on the public to respect, love and help the old. The Chinese government established this day every year as Respect for the Aged Day in 1989.
