Yesterday's minimum temperature didn't drop to minus 6 degrees centigrade as forecast. In fear of our turnips being frozen, mother harvested and buried them in the afternoon in a hurry. This morning I saw the first frost and ice of this early-arrived winter. I found our cabbages have been darkened by the freezing cold. And this evening mother and I got in most of them and stacked them close to outside windowsills with their roots towards the wall. I couldn't adjust to the sudden drop of the daily temperature and suffered cold in the tree-shaded office the whole day.
