Against purchasing motor vehicles

Hot 2478 views. 2013-11-15 00:16 | maintain, exercise, beyond, journey, protect

I have no intention to own any motor vehicles. Even if I were offered free of charge, I would refuse without hesitation. The reasons are as follows

First, it's unnecessary for me to possess such a luxury. I think it's good enough to cycle to work. And in this way I can get some exercise as well as saving money. This can also protect the environment. I can take a bus when going on a long journey.

Second, it's too expensive to buy and maintain a car. It's beyond my means. I have no garage to guarantee the safety of the car. The high price of gasoline and repairing discourages me from buying a private car.

Third, driving is very dangerous, during which the driver risks his life. I know little about driving and react slowly. So I'm not fit for driving. I'm scared to death of being involved in a traffic accident at any moment.

So I come to the bottom line. I don't want to have a motor vehicle. I prefer economy and safety to luxury and anxiety.

Sounds reasonable. After all we all have a choice. There're lots of disadvantages of owning a car, though the advantages are also obvious. The road is getting more and more crowded and worse still it is very hard to find a parking space in towns and cities.

Cars can keep on growing in quantity. Roads and parking are limited. Gasoline costs are expensive and keep increasing. Maintenance costs are prohibitive. Driving is exhausting, having to negotiate heavy traffic and busy pedestrians.  In the end, it would be nothing but frustrations.

In every developing society there are needs for better living and luxury.
There are sometimes need for a car, especially those with large families or living far or out of town.

All in all, the limitations of resources would regulate the ownership of vehicles.
