The
other year in the annual contest of the Starlight Road Ms Liu won the yearly champion.
She did sing well. But other contestants also performed brilliantly. I think at
least one of them was better than Liu. Her blindness helped her win a great
many votes from the judges and audience. Sympathy for her played a decisive role
for her landslide victory to some extent. After the announcement of the result,
a veteran judge stated that she deserved the honor for her great efforts and
perfect performance. On such occasions, the other contestants had to concede
ostensibly but complained about the unjust competition with the handicapped at
heart. This afternoon I detected the same tendency on the weekly champion contest
when watching the same program. The winner, a beautiful charwoman who had a
disabled younger brother, was obviously inferior to her rival in the final round
of acting.
