A midnight crash

Soon after I lay abed for sleep last night, I suddenly heard a crash in the sitting room. I got out of bed immediately and rushed to the living room. Turning on the bright light, I saw no trace of the disastrous sound. I went forward and drew apart the curtains over the entrance to the south balcony. To my surprise, the marble slab stuck vertically on the right post had fallen and partly broken. I removed the detached marble pieces onto the narrow balcony floor. Then I separated the slab which had been loose and fastened with sticky tape from the left post in case it should collapse.

Reply sunnyv 2014-2-4 13:33: Seems the falling marble slab is the result of shoddy work by the builders. The should have ensured that the cement is well spread on the marble and it holds on strongly against the wall. You better use some tool to knock on other marble slabs and ig it sounds vacuum/empty behind the marble, then sooner of later it would fall out too. The damaged marble should not be difficult to repair.
