The two bundles of leafless corn stems had been deserted at the roadside ditch over a long time. Mother said the small storage of our fuels will be run out before the new ones are available if we don't collect some more at the moment. As I cycled to school this morning, I saw the two bundles were still there. But when I returned to pick them up, I couldn't find them any longer. I was quite upset and had to gather a few fallen twigs as substitute. But soon to my pleasure I spotted a lot of corn stems. It cost me much time to load them on my bike. At first I tied them in a large bundle and fastened it on the backseat. It was unsteady and turned to fall after carried a step. Then I divided it into two bundles and hung them over the crossbar and the seat.
