The other day mother had bought some dates and glutinous rice for making dumplings for son on the Dragon Boat Festival. Now son has come back as planned. He was not dismissed until this noon with his classmates. I prepared him some porridge and pickles, a hen egg and a salted duck egg as lunch. Prices have jumped up well before the festival. A few days ago it cost me ￥12 to buy one kilogram of eggs, the record high in egg price. In spite of that, there were throngs of customers in the market as well as in the shops. Although rice dumplings were on sale, they didn't sell well.
