Deserted vegetables

This morning as I cycled halfway towards school I came across a pile of vegetables newly deserted at the roadside. They included several bundles of spinach and a lot of orderly young cabbages. Both of the vegetables were fresh as those on sale in the market. They seemed to be products growing in the greenhouse. I thought the reason their owner dumped them was that their too low prices could hardly bring any profit if sold. Every year over-produced vegetables like these are discarded in large quantities. This is a great waste of energy undoubtedly. If only these vegetables could be available to us who need them. Thank the former owner of the vegetables for leaving them uncontaminated there I pass every day. I picked up some of the cabbages filling up the bag I carry on my bike.

- Near my home, there is a huge transit and transportation center for farm products and vegetables. I often pass there walking towards the park and seaside. Sometimes I walk into that place to take a look and found that they discard quite of lot of fruits and vegetables which seem to be in reasonable condition. The apples were only slightly bruised and the vegetables partially damaged. There were some elderly ladies collecting those products and they told me that is more than enough for their daily needs and those food are as good as those bought from vendors. I have also noted quite excessive waste of food at restaurants. They wanted to give it out to the needy but are worried that they may be sued for dispensing doubtful food. People nowadays don't know what hunger is and they waste good like it is nothing. Seems people need to be deprived before they understand that they should not take food for granted.
