Today is the Summer Solstice, the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere. Up to now no swallows come to settle in the nest under the protruding cement board above the door of our house. A long time ago I just saw one flying here making an inspection of the nest. In the first few years we lived in our newly-built house there were no swallows coming to join us. We felt a little disappointed about it for both my neighbors were lucky enough to enjoy the company of swallows from the first year they moved into their new houses. It was years later that swallows came to our house building a nest as we longed for. Since then they had accompanied us year in year out until last year. Mother feels relieved to clear their droppings no more.
