It rained heavily yesterday morning and afternoon, which brought an end to the prolonged drought. Mother watered the vegetables almost every day during the period of drought. She has been taking care of them dedicatedly. That is why all the vegetables in our garden are growing well and some of them have borne a plentiful harvest. If it were not for son who is spending his holiday at home and particular about meals, we would not buy any vegetable now. We have enjoyed cucumbers, potatoes, eggplants, Chinese onions and green beans for quite some time. Although some of the pumpkins have been big and ripe enough for eating, mother grudges feeding on them when there are so many other supplies for us to consume. Some of the ripe vegetables are more than what we can eat, so we share them with brother and sister.

Reply teadrinking 2014-7-19 16:51: This scene is so familiar with my parents, when I am back home, I can enjoy the sufficient vegetables they planted. It is really very good to eat food cultivated by our own in the land, no need to worry about being polluted by pesticide, it is totally green. Have good summer time with your family, partitcularly your son.

Reply sunnyv 2014-7-19 20:21: Envy those benefits for suburban or rural life. Over here in my big city, vegetables takes 3 days to arrive from the fields and by the time they are here, they are not fresh anymore. Some time ago, I visited a rural village, the food was simple and the vegetables were fresh and crispy. Health is the first consideration.
